- Week 19 Results-

4 Hits

3 Misses

Season to date: 74-48-4

Here are the results from week 19, followed by a recipe for smoked Armadillo Eggs.

With his first two multi-hit games of the month, Ryan Zimmerman looked like he was starting to turn it around, but those two games made up for about all his hits for the week. It was a good week to have him on your bench.

Brandon Belt continues to rake, get on base and score. With 8 hits and 8 runs, and a couple of bombs, he helped your team pull out a win in week 19.  He was a good choice to have IN your lineup.

Homer Bailey had a dominant outing as he won his third straight decision Sunday afternoon against the Brewers. The right-hander surrendered only one run on three hits and one walk while striking out eight over eight innings of a 9-1 victory. Over his two starts in week 19, Bailey allowed a total of five earned runs in 14 1/3 innings.

With 11 hits for the week, Brett Lawrie was a good recommendation. Although the other numbers weren’t there for you, he didn’t do anything to hurt your roster and you got a SB to boot.

We told you to start Stephen Drew and he disappointed with 5 hits in 24 ABs. He must have been looking over his shoulder because there is a new player in beantown that might Bogaert his playing time.

Todd Frazier only had one more hit than Drew, but made the most of them, plating 6 and reaching home 4 times on his own, 2 by HR. While the average wasn’t great, he did enough to help not hurt, and wasted away on your bench.

Another player that was recommended that you sit OUT was Dayan Viciedo. One could say that was a good pick, but he drove in 5 for the week and that is better than most and probably could have been what you needed to get you over the top in the RBI category in week 19.

Armadillo Eggs

Spicy bratwurst sausage is molded around a jalapeno pepper stuffed with cream cheese to form an egg.

12 jalapeno peppers
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
Wilton Golden Yellow paste food coloring (or yellow food coloring)
3 pounds spicy bratwurst sausage, casings removed
Cut the stem ends off the jalapenos and use a small knife to cut the seeds out.
Keep the peppers whole.
Put the cream cheese into a small bowl and use a toothpick to add a tiny bit of the food coloring (this paste is very concentrated, so a little goes a long way).
Mix the coloring thoroughly into the cream cheese.
Add more, if you need it, to achieve a bright golden color, like the yolk of an egg.
Transfer the cream cheese to a pastry bag fitted with a wide tip and pipe the cheese into the jalapenos.
(You can make your own pastry bag by using a small zippered plastic bag and snipping off one corner.)
Divide the sausage into 12 pieces.
Flatten each piece into a disk, place a filled jalapeno in the center,
and wrap the sausage around it, pressing the edges to seal.
Form the sausage into the shape of a large egg.

Smoke for 1 1/2 hours at 250 degrees.

Slice to serve.
The slices will resemble sliced hard-cooked eggs, with the colored cream cheese looking like the yolk.
