Here are the results from week 17, followed by a recipe for Colcannon Potatoes.

Hits

Ben Zobrist had a hit in every game last week except for one and hit over .400. Other than getting hits, he didn’t do too much for your team but that average was enough to make him a hit.

We recommended that you bench Ian Desmond and it was probably good that you did, he had a weird stat line with just 2 hits but 4 stolen bases. the SBs weren’t enough to make up for the lack of everything else.

Another player we thought you should have riding the pine was Jed Lowire, and he didn’t disappoint. Sure, he scored more than ben, but not enough for your team.

Martín Prado had the second most hits of the week and had 3 doubles. While he didn’t light the world on fire in week 17, he did enough not to hurt your team and was worthy to be IN your lineup.

You can go either way with the week that Andrelton Simmons had. On one hand, he didn’t drive in a lot of runs and had just a so-so average, but on the other, he had 3 two-baggers, scored 4 and didn’t kill you with the average. Tough call, but I’ll take it and consider it a hit.

Misses

If Simmons was a hit then recommending that you sit Jean Segura is a miss. He scored as many times as him, hit the same amount of doubles, drove in the same and had a HR to boot. All that with 3 less hits. That Batting Average didn’t help you, but the rest did. enough to make the SIT tag a miss.

The Dodgers made a late shuffle of thier rotation prior to the week giving Ricky Nolasco just one start. He had a had hard time keeping the ball in the park as he allowed three solo home runs but hung on for his seventh win of the season Thursday night against the Cubs at Wrigley Field. Nolasco served up two homers to Junior Lake and one to Anthony Rizzo. The right-hander permitted three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out six over five innings pitched in a 6-4 win. The win and strikeouts were good, but because he only got one start and served up round trippers like they were ribs, his START was a miss.

COLCANNON POTATOES

You can’t beat the creamy taste of Colcannon (Irish: cál ceannann, meaning “white-headed cabbage”) and the texture of a Mashed Potato and it doesn’t get any easier to make.

INGREDIENTS

8 peeled potatoes
2 oz butter
1 crushed garlic clove
Salt and pepper
Cooked cabbage chopped
Spring onion chopped

Add Crumbled cooked Bacon or Sausage

PREPARATION

Boil and mash your potatoes, add all your ingredients, mix well and serve hot. Great with bacon, sausages and of course a cool can of GUINNESS® Draught.
