FF Targets – Wide Receiver

HIGH_HEAT2[300x250]

In the world of Fantasy Football, there is no more important position than the WRs. Sure the RBs seem to get drafted first, but they are also the most risky. They probably get picked first because of position scarcity (and that is important as I will point out later). Have a staff of average WRs and you will be down in the standings all year.  After the top 5 or so RBs are off the board, you need to start grabbing one of the premier WRs. Don’t be that guy who picks your bench RB before your WR1.

Here are some WRs to target this year…. Followed by my secret Pico de Gallo recipe.

Calvin Johnson, Lions

Count on megatron again this year. He showed at the end of last year why he is the top receiver. Pair him with a healthy Stafford and root for the Lions as I did last year.

Julio Jones, Falcons

Atlanta is employing an up-tempo offense in 2012 and this preseason we got a glimpse of what it can do and we like it.

Dez Bryant, Cowboys

If you can’t get the one of the two above, go get Dez. All he does is score. In the first half atleast.

Percy Harvin, Vikings

He might not be your WR1, but don’t worry if he is. If you combine him with one of those other guys above, you are drafting well.

Brandon Lloyd, Patriots

The Pats already had a lot of weapons but Brandon was a huge get for the offense. I cannot tell you why I like him so much, I just see a lot of deep catches to go along with a lot of TDs for him.

Greg Jennings, Packers

He was drafted in the Top 5 at his position the last couple of years, He seems to have fallen out of that group this year. I don’t know why. He is a great player and you would be in fine shape if he is your WR2

Demaryius Thomas, Broncos

I got a feeling you can snag him in the middle rounds this year. The buzz in Denver is all about Peyton and Decker, but don’t forget about this guy. He is 6’3” and runs routes like Wayne. I’d take that production any day.

Antonio Brown, Steelers

This guy can catch. The Steelers o-line hasn’t gotten any better thanks to injuries. New O/C Haley might like to run the ball, but he also likes the quick passes perfectly suited for A/B.

Torrey Smith, Ravens

Another new offensive scheme in the AFC north. Baltimore’s new no-huddle may not work, but Torrey will.

Jeremy Maclin, Eagles

I have my doubts that Vick will make it all season, he has only played all 16 games in a season just twice! twice! Maclin also seems to be made of glass, but when he is on the field he makes the best of it. If he is your WR3, start spending your winnings.

Justin Blackmon, Jaguars

He could be suspended at any minute. His preseason/camp was great. His talent is that good. You better hope he plays all year if you draft him, and you should.

Pierre Garcon, Redskins

I have always liked “the waiter”, he has been on most of my teams through his career and has been a bit of a disappointment. Not this year. I really like him as a Flex option every week.
