- FANFOOD GET & FORGET Championship Week -

The next and final edition of the FANFOOD GET & FORGET will be about a player that may be sitting there as a Free Agent. If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you made it to the championship of your league’s playoffs (congrats!). Since you’ve proven to have a championship-caliber squad, the odds are you don’t need any major reinforcements. But hey, it doesn’t hurt to see who’s available.

Every year there are players that will emerge off the fantasy football waiver wire to be solid additions for a fantasy football team. Good work on the waiver wire involves knowing who is on the radar just before their stock goes through the roof after a huge game or a string of solid starts. Here is the Final Get & Forget of the season as we sift through the noise and point out a player that you should GET & one you can FORGET.

Here are ALL the 2013 FANFOOD GET & FORGETs

GET

Cordarrelle Patterson

from BretskyBall:
Cordarrelle Patterson’s talent in the open field is undeniable but if you cannot get him grab Greg Jennings as he has been a different player with Matt Cassell at the helm. Over the past three weeks, Jennings has a whopping 32 targets — which he’s turned into 23 receptions for 293 yards and two scores — and is showing doubters that his early-season struggles were more the fault of inept quarterback play rather than diminished skills.

from Fans Fantasy Football:
Mr. Patterson should be owned in all leagues at this point. He gets targets and a few carries a week and the Vikings are looking for ways to get the ball in his hands. It seems like he makes a play each week right now. If you cannot get him pick up Jordan Todman because he is a guy that should be owned. MJD may or may not be back as hamstrings are always complex injuries. The matchup for the Jags (vs. TEN) is worth a speculative move.

FANFOOD SAYS: We have been back and forth with him all season. last week we told you to get him, week 13 and week 11 week told you to forget him. We are back again and he is one that could help you win your FLEX roster spot in your league Championship.

FORGET

Matt Asiata

from rotoworld:
Matt Asiata rushed 30 times for 51 yards with three touchdowns in Sunday’s 48-30 Week 15 win over the Eagles. With Adrian Peterson (foot) and Toby Gerhart (hamstring) both inactive, the Vikings had no choice but to turn to third-stringer Asiata. It was perhaps the worst three-touchdown performance in NFL history. Asiata showed absolutely zero burst, lateral agility or vision as he did a poor man’s Jackie “The Elephant” Battle impersonation. Two of his scores came from one yard out and the last was from five yards out. Even if Peterson and Gerhart both sit out at Cincy in Week 16, Asiata would be a desperation TD-dependent fantasy play only.

from cbssports:
Vikings running back Matt Asiata scored three touchdowns in his first start Week 15. Asiata was more a victim of good circumstance than strong running. He only averaged 1.7 yards per carry, but managed to do all his dirty work at the goal line. Asiata scored on two 1 yards runs and a 5 yard run. He received a huge workload, carrying the ball 30 times for 51 yards. Asiata also had three receptions for 15 yards. If Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart are out again next week, Asiata will look to continue his success in the red zone against the Bengals.

from FFLockerRoom:
Asiata scored an amazing three touchdowns last week but will likely play behind AP and Gerhart. Matt could even be inactive for this one if both of the other backs are healthy.

FANFOOD SAYS: Now is not the week where you want to take a gamble in hopes of another stellar performance.  He is a desperation FLEX play only.

DST Streamer Championship week:

 vs NYG

from FFCafe:
The Lions have done a credible job on defense this season, giving up just 23.3 points per game while averaging 2.1 sacks and 1.4 turnovers per game (all numbers don’t include a Week 15 matchup with the Ravens). However, the Lions fantasy defense is one of the least owned units in Yahoo! fantasy leagues. Expect them to beat their turnover average in Week 16 when they take on Eli Manning and the Interception Circus. The Giants have ceded the most points to fantasy defenses in the league, and in a week where an entire season rests on one game, that makes the Lions an elite unit worth dropping almost any other fantasy defense to use.from BretskyBall:
The widely available Detroit Lions defense is shaping up to be a solid streaming unit in Week 16 against the pitiful New York Giants. As big-brother Peyton paces towards an NFL record in TD passes, Eli Manning is putting up a record-threatening performance of his own, tossing 25 interceptions through 14 games. Eli’s abysmal prospects will take a huge hit if Victor Cruz (head/knee) is unable to suit up, making Detroit a nice gamble for Championship Week.

from sbnation:
There is no shortage of terrible offense in the Big Apple this season, and the Lions will be the next team to get a chance to feast. Though there are obvious holes in the Lions’ secondary, the Giants have rarely taken advantage of such matchups during a nightmare season. Each week provides the same narrative when reviewing what the Giants have — or in many cases, haven’t — done this season. Eli Manning is within shouting distance of the NFL single-season interceptions record, Hakeem Nicks has been a non-factor and now Victor Cruz’s status is uncertain for Week 16. It’s the best matchup a defense could ask for during championship week, and there is obvious upside for a Lions defense that is owned in just 14 percent of Yahoo! leagues.

FANFOOD SAYS: If you are streaming each week and in your league championship, you could do worse.

but don’t just take our word for it, see what other’s have to say.
