Even though February is a short month, it’s jam packed with sports. In case you haven’t heard there is a football game on the 7th. Super Bowl 50 is being played  out west and it’s a great matchup between the two number 1 teams in their division, the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos. We’ve got you covered with everything Super Bowl. There is much more to the game than just the game, click here for the FANFOOD GAMEDAY Party Guide with recipes for food and beverage, Entertaining tips & tricks, information on all the PROP Bets you can make, and of course the Commercials.

Some of my favorite 4 word phrases are “pitchers and catchers report!” Major League Baseball Spring training is right around the corner and we have all the important February info for you to know, such as the workout schedule for all 30 teams and links to all the teams, maps of all their workout facilities and game schedules.

The second half of the NHL Season gets underway this month. There are a lot of questions facing a lot of teams in the league. The biggest one is, “What does the future hold?” Most teams in the league have about 34 games or so remaining on their schedules and some serious decisions to make as the trade deadline approaches over the next six weeks, we’re almost certainly going to learn a lot about the quality of various teams around the league. Click here for the FANFOOD TOP 10 NHL teams to start the second half, the NHL Rivalry Wednesdays on TV and the FULL Schedule for the games in February.

The pro ballers take a few days off in the middle of February and the best of the best play a game of hoops north of the Border.  The 65th edition of the NBA All-Star Game will be played on February 14, 2016 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada at 8:30 pm ET. It’s the first time NBA All-Star will be held outside the United States in the history of the event. Festivities surround the big game get underway first when the NBA Rising Stars Challenge puts the spotlight on ‘star’ NBA rookies, followed by the highly popular NBA All-Star Saturday night with the Slam Dunk Contest. Click here for the top 40 dunks and some of memorable moments of guys slamming a ball threw a cylinder. Oh Yeah! We also got you covered with the FULL schedule for the month.

The college kids don’t take a break, as they are gearing up for the Madness of March. The end of February is the end of the college basketball season and when the calendar flips to March, it’s time for the conference tournaments, the national championship tournament and the return of the made up word, bracketology. But lets not get ahead of ourselves. Click here for the entire schedule for every game in College Basketball broken down by week.

If Auto Racing is your thing, the Super Bowl of stock car racing is coming up this month. What better way in the dead of winter to warm up than to start planning that trip to Daytona and the annual Speedweeks festival of racing. The highlight of the month is the 58th Daytona 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Feb. 21st. Click here for the complete schedule of the Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway, and links to the big race in FLA.

Last and most likely least, we have links to all the professional tennis tournaments held in the next 28 days, and links to the tournaments where grown men hit a little white ball around a field in hopes to put it in a hole in less shots than the other guys in slacks.

 Super Bowl 50

Super Bowl 50

Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016 – 6:30pm ET, CBS
AFC Champion vs. NFC Champion
Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, CA

Not to be confused with Super Bowl L. Roman numerals will be taking a one-year break from the Super Bowl. Due to concerns over using a sole “L” for the 50th Super Bowl logo, the 2016 NFL championship will be known as Super Bowl 50. The league has used a Roman numeral to denote every title game since Super Bowl V. The change will only be temporary, however. Starting in 2017, Roman numerals are back for Super Bowl LI. Things might look good for the next eight years, but then we hit Super Bowl LIX, which is ridiculous. Decades later, they’ll get to Super Bowl LXXXVIII which won’t fit on a T-shirt and Super Bowl XCIV, which sounds like a military spying operation. Super Bowl L was the perfect time to ditch the numerals, but the NFL blinked and now we’re stuck with them forever.

SB50 Overview

Super Bowl 50: Sunday, Feb. 7, 6:30 p.m. Eastern.

TV: CBS, Jim Nantz and Phil Simms in the booth, Tracy Wolfson on the sidelines.

Location: Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. It is the first Super Bowl at the stadium, opened in 2014. The Super Bowl was played in northern California one other time, in 1985 at Stanford Stadium.

Teams: Carolina Panthers (15-1 regular season) vs. Denver Broncos (12-4). It is the third straight year with both top seeds in the Super Bowl. Carolina is 0-1 in the game, having lost in 2004. Denver is 2-5, the most losses of any team.

Line: Carolina by 4. Over/under, 45.

Cam Newton, 26, ranked sixth in adjusted yards per pass attempt this season;

Peyton Manning, 39, ranked 41st.

Newton ranked first in rushing yards, with 636. At minus-6 yards rushing, Manning was 44th and last among quarterbacks with at least 100 pass attempts.

Other stars:

Carolina had a league-high 10 Pro Bowl selections, including linebacker Luke Kuechly and running backs Jonathan Stewart and Mike Tolbert.

Denver had four, all on defense: cornerbacks Chris Harris and Aqib Talib, and linebackers Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware.

Carolina, already playing without two key defensive backs, may be without Thomas Davis, who told reporters after the N.F.C. championship that he had broken his right arm and had pictures posted to Instagram Monday of him getting ready for surgery. Davis vowed to play through the injury, but he will need to receive medical clearance.

Denver’s Chris Harris Jr. played through a significant bone bruise in his left shoulder in the A.F.C. championship, and was surprisingly effective considering the limited range of his arm. With two weeks to heal, he may be at full strength for the Super Bowl.

Most influential draft: 2011.

The Panthers, who had been 2-14, had the top pick and took Newton.

The Broncos, who were 4-12, had pick No. 2 and took Miller. Newton, who had faced criticism of his skills from some quarters, said: “I wouldn’t say I have anything to prove to people. I have to prove it for myself.”

Carolina ranked first in points, 12th in yards per play; Denver 19th and 17th.

Carolina sixth in points, second in yards per play; Denver fourth, first.

Coaches’ low moments:

After several successful years as defensive coordinator with the Bears, including a Super Bowl trip in 2007, Ron Rivera was interviewed for several top jobs, but missed out on all of them. Shortly after, he was puzzlingly dismissed by Coach Lovie Smith and had to settle for a job as linebackers coach with San Diego.

Gary Kubiak of the Broncos was fired after eight years as Houston’s head coach after starting the 2013 season 2-11.

Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, a former N.F.L. player with the Colts, made a surprise appearance before Sunday’s N.F.C. championship to hit the team’s “Keep Pounding” drum.

Broncos owner Pat Bowlen gave up day-to-day control of the team in 2014; he has Alzheimer’s disease. His wife, Annabel, accepted the trophy on Sunday and urged the team to “get it done for Pat.”

The crew will be led by the referee Clete Blakeman, an eight-year veteran who once was the backup quarterback at Nebraska. Blakeman made news in the divisional round, when his first coin toss before overtime failed to flip.

Coldplay, with a guest appearance by Beyonce, who headlined in 2013.

After wearing white for two straight weeks, the Carolina Panthers will be making a switch for Super Bowl 50. The Panthers announced on Tuesday that they’ll be wearing black jerseys for their Feb. 7 game against the Broncos. They won’t be going all black for the game. The team has decided to wear silver pants to go with the black jerseys. Carolina went 6-0 this season wearing its black jerseys, but the Panthers are 0-2 all-time wearing them in the postseason. Although he Panthers wore white in their first two playoff games this year, it’s probably a good thing they’re not wearing them in the Super Bowl. The Panthers wore white in their only other Super Bowl appearance and they lost to the Patriots 32-29.

When the Broncos face the Panthers in Super Bowl 50, they will wear the all-white uniforms that helped them to their second Super Bowl title, over the Falcons in 1999. As the designated home team, the Broncos got to choose their uniform color for the big game. The home/away designations for Super Bowls switches conferences each year; Seattle was the home team in last year’s Super Bowl against the Patriots and elected to wear their blue-on-blue uniforms. “We’ve had some Super Bowl success in our white uniforms, and we’re looking forward to wearing them again in Super Bowl 50,” general manager and executive vice president John Elway said via the team’s website. Super Bowl 50 will be the Broncos’ eighth appearance all-time and their seventh since Pat Bowlen purchased the team in 1984. They own a 2-5 all-time record. The Broncos wore all white in only one other Super Bowl appearance, in a loss to the Giants in 1987. They won their first world championship, against the Packers in Super Bowl XXXII, wearing their blue jerseys and white pants. And of their five losses, four have been in orange jerseys with white pants.

Best offense versus best defense

The Broncos are coming off one of the most dominant performances imaginable. Von Miller is building an all-time great career and is coming off an all-time great performance. Denver led the NFL in fewest yards allowed and pass the eye test. Miller, DeMarcus Ware, Malik Jackson and Derek Wolfe make up the best defensive line in football. The linebacker group is underrated and versatile. Denver is deep at cornerback with Aqib Talib, Chris Harris and Bradley Roby. And they are led by Wade Phillips, one of the best defensive coordinators in NFL history.

The Panthers, meanwhile, were the league’s top-scoring team. Led by Cam Newton’s MVP-caliber season, they have successfully made the transition to an explosive offensive team. No running game has more “base” running plays that look similar but have nearly infinite variations. Corey Brown, Ted Ginn and Devin Funchess have proven you don’t need a top-shelf receiver group to score mountains of points. The Broncos were the ones with the loaded offense last time they were in the Super Bowl, and they probably don’t mind having the roles reversed this time.

John Elway’s vision comes true

Broncos general manager John Elway looked at his team after they lost Super Bowl XLVIII to Seattle and vowed to become tougher. He wanted a team that looked more like the defense and running heavy squads he won the Super Bowl with in the late 1990s. Just two years later, his vision has been realized. The defense is loaded with Elway draft picks, not to mention free agent signings like DeMarcus Ware, T.J. Ward and Talib.

Elway made an unpopular choice by replacing coach John Fox after last season. Installing coach Gary Kubiak’s running game, along with Phillips, has helped bring Elway to the championship doorstep again with a team he can believe in. As Dan Hanzus noted on our latest Around the NFL Podcast, perhaps Elway can engineer another magical podium moment again.

Peyton Manning’s last ride

This will inevitably be the “Jerome Bettis is from Detroit!” storyline of the game. We are more convinced than ever that this will be Manning’s last season. Common sense says no, but Manning has left plenty of signs. His decision to soak up the afterglow Sunday with his entire family on the field in Denver was telling. His son Marshall joined him at the podium after the win over the Patriots. Even Archie Manning believes this is it for Peyton, although he insists his son hasn’t said a word.

This story will get an insane amount of attention. But the cheesiest script couldn’t come up with this stuff. One of the game’s all-time greats, broken down and benched at the end of his career, makes one final run as a supporting player on a loaded team. It’s almost too incredible to believe.

New and old

The quarterback age gap in this game is greater than any matchup in Super Bowl history. We’re not particularly looking forward to thinkpieces about Cam Newton representing the new generation of quarterbacks against the old guard, especially when it comes to comparing the two players’ pitchman or celebration skills.

It’s a more interesting angle when considering a very traditional offense led by Manning and Kubiak and comparing it to the hybrid Cam Newton/Mike Shula attack which is unlike anything we’ve seen in the NFL. The Panthers have basically built an offense entirely around Cam. As it should be!

Top picks

In case you missed it: It’s the first matchup of No. 1 overall picks. The 2011 draft is also the first draft to have its No. 1 (Cam) and No. 2 picks (Von Miller) face off in the Super Bowl. It’s also the third straight year that the NFL’s top-seeded playoff teams have reached the Super Bowl. It’s good to be chalk!

Von Miller and Josh Norman

There are a ton of great stories about each team’s defense. This is Ware’s first Super Bowl in a potential Hall of Fame career. Thomas Davis, coming off a broken arm, is one of the most inspirational figures from the last decade in the NFL. It’s sweet to see him on the big stage. Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly is one of the very best defensive players in the league and is about to become a lot more famous.

But we know how Super Bowl week works. The best, loudest, strangest players get the most attention. And it doesn’t get much louder, funnier, and better than Miller and Panthers cornerback Josh Norman. They will be everywhere.

Cam Newton’s coronation

This has been Cam Newton’s season. He’s going to win the MVP and the Panthers are one tough loss to the Falcons away from being undefeated entering this game. No player loves or deserves the spotlight more. Newton is a leader that fascinates with his play and his words. Super Bowl week is not too big for Cam; it’s just the right size.

This feels like Newton’s championship season. But feelings before the Super Bowl are overrated. Just ask the 2001 Rams or the 2007 Patriots. It’s up to Newton to earn his coronation.

SB50 Facts:

  • The age difference between Peyton Manning (39) and Cam Newton (26) is the largest between starting quarterbacks in Super Bowl history. The difference is 13 years and 48 days, beating the previous high of 12 years and 250 days when Manning faced Russell Wilson in 2013.
  • The winner of this Super Bowl will be the eighth different winning team in the last eight seasons.
  • Peyton Manning became the only quarterback to take multiple teams to the Super Bowl multiple times. Super Bowl 50 will be Manning’s fourth time at the big event, with two appearances each as a member of the Colts and Broncos.
  • Just five years ago these teams had the top two picks in the NFL Draft. Carolina selected Cam Newton while the Broncos selected Von Miller. Both players are key components to their team’s success. Also, this will be the first time the No.1 overall pick and No. 2 overall pick from the same draft will face each other in the Super Bowl.
  • Both of these teams made the Super Bowl with the coach they hired after firing John Fox. Carolina with Ron Rivera and Denver with Gary Kubiak.
  • This is the first Super Bowl matchup featuring opposing starting quarterbacks who were selected No. 1 overall. Only six quarterbacks selected first overall have won the big game: Terry Bradshaw (4), Troy Aikman (3), Jim Plunkett (2), John Elway (2), Eli Manning (2), Peyton Manning.
  • For the third straight season, the top seeds from each conference will face each other in the Super Bowl. This was a rarity as it only happened nine times prior to this stretch, and just three times before 1990. The NFC has won eight of 11 such matchups and the favorites have gone 8-3 against the spread, which has to be good news for Panthers fans.
  • The Panthers are one of 13 teams that have never won a Super Bowl. They only have one other appearance, which was in 2003. No one from that team is still on the roster, and only two (Julius Peppers, Steve Smith) are still in the league.
  • Cam Newton can become the third quarterback (Joe Montana and Joe Namath) to win a National Championship and a Super Bowl as a starting quarterback. He can also become the first quarterback to win the Heisman, national title, MVP and Super Bowl.
  • Peyton Manning is tied with Brett Favre with 199 career wins (regular season and postseason combined). If he wins the Super Bowl he can hold the all-time record.

Tecmo Super Bowl 50 Results:

In the simulation, the Panthers get the scoring started in the first quarter when Ted Ginn sneaks behind the Broncos’ secondary and hauls in a 70-yard bomb from Cam Newton.

In the second quarter, a 42-yard catch and run by running back C.J. Anderson gets the Broncos in scoring position. But Anderson then fumbles at the four-yard line to end the drive and send the Broncos into halftime empty-handed, trailing 7-0.

In the third quarter, Denver has scoring drives snuffed out by an interception (by safety Kurt Coleman) and a field goal attempt that clangs off the right post. Denver pulls within 10-7 late in the fourth quarter on big runs by Johnson and Ronnie Hillman, but Newton marches the Panthers right back, icing the game on a 20-yard sweep by Jonathan Stewart.

Here are your final game stats:

Neither quarterback turns in a particularly dynamic performance, foreshadowing what should in reality be a very tough defensive contest. A 100-yard rushing game in the compressed time of Tecmo Super Bowl is a pretty stout performance, so look for Denver to find some success by that route.

Ultimately, Tecmo Super Bowl is calling for the Broncos to shoot themselves in the foot at every critical moment. The Panthers opened as 3.5 to 4.5 point favorites depending on the sports book, with 44 to 45.5 points set as the over/under. Picking the spread with this kind of a game is not advisable, but if Tecmo Super Bowl is any guide, take the under.

National Hockey League

The second half of the NHL season is setting up to be an eventful one after the All-Star weekend, the trade deadline, and an increasingly tight playoff race all approaching.

The NHL awards race will also continue to heat up as the season winds down, so here are five favorites for major awards if they were decided today:

Hart Trophy - Patrick KaneChicago Blackhawks

Though he leads the league in goals (30) and assists (43) by just two, his 73 points are an incredible 16 more than his nearest competitor in Dallas Starscaptain and reigning Art Ross Trophy winner Jamie Benn.

Not only is he on pace for the highest-scoring season since Joe Thornton racked up 125 points in the post-lockout 2005-06 campaign, he’s also in line to be the first player to win the Art Ross by a 20-point margin sinceJaromir Jagr topped Teemu Selanne by 20 points in 1999.

In a league desperate for more scoring, Kane has been held off the scoresheet just eight times for the Western Conference leaders, making him the clear-cut favorite for the Hart.

Honorable mentions: Braden Holtby‘s numbers for the NHL-leading Capitalscontinue to look a lot like Carey Price‘s from a year ago that earned theCanadiens netminder both the Vezina and a Hart, but a teammate of Kane’s is beginning to make a similar case.

Vezina Trophy - Corey Crawford, Chicago Blackhawks

Long overshadowed by the Blackhawks’ firepower up front and helped to a pair of Jennings Trophies thanks to a star-studded defense, Crawford has responded in a huge way in 2016.

The 31-year-old has a 9-1-0 record so far in the new year, and has added two more shutouts to his league-leading seven. With his recent run of outstanding play, Holtby is now far from a runaway for the league’s best goaltender.

Save %.930.932

It can’t be ignored that Holtby has only one regulation loss since Nov. 10, but only Martin Brodeur has won a Vezina with under five shutouts since 2000 – recording four in 2008 when he took the award for a fourth and final time.

Honorable Mention: Outside the two-man race, Cory Schneider sits in the top 10 of every major goaltending category and would receive serious consideration if he guides the Devils into the playoffs.

Norris TrophyErik Karlsson - Ottawa Senators

With two Norris wins already under his belt, the 25-year-old is in the midst of a career-best season, and like Kane, could hit a milestone reached just once since the 2005 lockout by joining fellow Swede Nicklas Lidstrom as the only defensemen to hit the 80-point mark in the last 10 years.

His campaign isn’t being helped as Ottawa has allowed the second-most goals in the league (148), but Karlsson helps the Senators a lot more than he hurts them, and a playoff appearance could even push his name into Hart discussions.

Honorable Mentions: Drew Doughty‘s outstanding two-way play could finally earn him a well-deserved Norris this season, while Aaron Ekblad could be a dark horse as the Panthers are winners of 14 straight games with the 19-year-old in the lineup.

Calder TrophyDylan Larkin - Detroit Red Wings

While Kane’s linemate Artemi Panarin is running away with the rookie scoring lead, only one first-year player currently leads his own team in points and that distinction belongs to Larkin.

Sporting a rookie-best plus-23 rating, the 19-year-old leads the Wings with 15 goals and is tied with captain Henrik Zetterberg at 32 points. With his team currently sitting in a playoff position, the Michigan native might just be “The Next Jonathan Toews” after all.

Honorable Mentions: After Panarin, John Gibson‘s level of play should put him in the Calder discussion whether the Ducks make the playoffs or not, while big second halves from Max DomiJack EichelShayne Gostisbehere, or even Connor McDavid should make this race intriguing to the end.

Jack Adams Trophy: Barry Trotz – Washington Capitals

Known for leading great defensive teams in Nashville, Trotz was never able to advance past the second round in seven playoff appearances with the Predators. This year, while the rest of the East scrambles for playoff position, the Capitals look very comfortable atop the league standings as they eye a deep postseason run.

Career years from Holtby, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and John Carlson have definitely played their part in the team’s success, but it’s time Trotz gets the respect he deserves after a number of recent Adams winners have failed to carry their success from year to year.

Honorable Mentions: Gerard Gallant’s Panthers are still sitting first in the Atlantic, while Devils rookie coach John Hynes, like his goaltender, will see his stock rise significantly with a playoff berth.

National Basketball Association

It feels like we’re ready for the stretch run and the postseason. We know who the four title contenders are, we know their strengths and weaknesses, and we want to see it play out seven games at a time.It also feels like we still have a lot to learn about this season. We’ve only seen four games between those four contenders and we still have 12 to go.

Furthermore, the season isn’t just about the team that takes home the Larry O’Brien trophy. And there’s a lot to sort out beyond Cleveland, Golden State, Oklahoma City and San Antonio. There are several teams that could end up in the Eastern Conference finals opposite the Cavs and for almost all of them, that would be a huge accomplishment.

In the Western Conference, we have a few teams fighting to end multi-year playoff droughts, as well as a few teams in transition, trying to figure out where they go next. And of course, we have the trade deadline in less than four weeks to shake things up when we feel like we’ve got all the answers. We had surprises, disappointments and the best start in NBA history in the first half of the season. The second half could be a lot more interesting.

Here are the FANFOOD Top 10 NBA Teams heading into February:

  1. Golden State
  2. San Antonio
  3. Oklahoma City
  4. Toronto
  5. Cleveland
  6. Chicago
  7. Los Angeles

NCAA College Basketball

Let’s start in the ACC, and go way south. There is a lot of talent near South Beach. The Hurricanes beat a ranked team for the third time this season when they rolled over Duke on Monday, and also won by double digits for the 15th time. How good of a hire has Jim Larranaga been for Miami? The Canes are 4-2 versus Duke under the former George Mason leader after going 2-15 against the Blue Devils prior to his hiring. Last year Miami went to the NIT, but it went 11-6 away from home, and all those road wins are paying off this year with an experienced team. Angel Rodriguez is 24 years old and a fifth-year senior. Sheldon McClellan is another fifth-year senior averaging 16 points per game. Tonye Jekiri is a 7-foot senior big man who is very good, and no one else has one of those. This team destroyed Utah, beat Butler, won at Nebraska and beat Florida. Seniors, an experienced coach and a team that is used to winning away from home is a great combination. On the 10th anniversary of George Mason’s amazing run to the Final Four, wouldn’t a return trip for Coach Larranaga be something special?

Now head across the country and make a right turn towards the north, where Dana Altman has coached in more than 850 games and doesn’t seem to be slowing down. In a wide open Pac-12 that has a lot of really good teams but maybe not a great one, his Ducks have a chance to win the league. They have won five of six, and why they are not ranked higher than 23rd is beyond me. Oregon enters this week with seven top-50 wins, most in the nation. That is the same amount as North Carolina, Maryland, Kentucky, Louisville and SMU have… combined. Yes, you read that right. Oregon has a rim protector in Chris Boucher, who leads the nation in blocks per game, and has a steady point guard in Casey Benson; he leads the nation in assist-to-turnover ration (5.4-to-1). Sophomore Dillon Brooks is very good and can score, while senior Elgin Cook is consistent. They can win the Pac-12 and do even more damage come March.

All of sudden that hot seat in Bloomington isn’t quite so hot for Tom Crean. After a close loss to Wisconsin in overtime last night, the Hoosiers are 17-4 and in the hunt for the Big Ten title. Indiana still has work to do and it only has one great win and that is Notre Dame. It loaded up with some easy games in December to get confidence, but it worked. Indiana has huge games coming up with Iowa on February 11th and March 1st and will close the regular season with Maryland coming to Alumni Hall on March 5th. Senior Yogi Ferrell is averaging over 17 points a game while dishing out six assists, while junior Troy Williams is doing a great job on the boards. Indiana can get to 20 wins by simply beating Minnesota, Penn State, Nebraska and Illinois, but the Hoosiers are looking for much more. Indiana has just one Big Ten title in the past 13 seasons (2013). Ohio State has won five in that time frame. IU has a chance to do that this year.

Finally, I want to give Steve Prohm a lot of credit. He took over Iowa State at an odd time (early June for a hometown legend). That was not an easy situation to step into on the surface, but when you have fans like the Cyclones do, you can get things done. Iowa State has three top-10 wins (Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa). Now they have an awesome non-conference game at Texas A&M on Saturday. The Cyclones won at Cincinnati and beat Colorado in the first game of the year. Georges Niang is a complete player and Monte Morris is a great point guard. Coach Prohm now has a fun game Saturday against Billy Kennedy, for whom he worked at Centenary, Southeastern Louisiana and at Murray State. Prohm was an assistant to Kennedy when Murray State won 31 games in 2009-10 and beat Vanderbilt in the NCAA Tournament. Prohm’s NCAA record is 1-1, but he has a great chance to up that by four wins and get to the Final Four in Houston.

The green flag drops on the 200-lap, 500 mile race that tears down the track on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the Daytona International Speedway in Florida,

It’s the first big race of the Sprint Cup Series season. And, it all begins with Speedweeks — featuring action-packed Shootout and Duel 150 races to decide qualifiers and starting positions.

The main event — the historic 58th running of the Daytona 500 — will be televised on FOX on Sunday, February 21 with a traditional start time of 1 PM ET.

February in Florida signals the return of racing season as we kick off a nine-day campaign as we officially open the world’s first motorsports stadium and take the race experience to all new levels. Formally known as Speedweeks, the action-packed schedule features seven races from four different racing series.

Be among the faithful fans as drivers prepare to push the limits in order to forever etch their names in the record books.

Super Bowl Fun Facts

NEW! for ’16

Nearly one-third of U.S. adults are likely to bet on the big game.

Nevada sports books took a record $119.4 million in bets on last year’s Super Bowl. One reason for the big draw was the standing of the teams.

A proposition bet, also known as a prop bet or a side bet, can be made two ways: on the occurrence (or not) during a game and on specific aspects of the pageantry surrounding the game. After odds for everything from who will be the MVP of the game, to what team will score first. Novelty props include the length of the national anthem to bets on what color gatorade will be dumped on the coach. You can bet on anything from whether or not the national anthem will run longer than 2 minutes, if the score will be tied at half time, basically anything.

Sure you can just pick what team will win the game, but prop bets is where it’s at.

A sample of Super Bowl 50 props already posted at MGM books:

— Will the team that scores first win the game? (Yes minus-200; No plus-160)

— Will the team that punts first win the game? (Yes plus-125; No minus-155)

— First team to score at least 8 points (Panthers minus-175; Broncos plus-155)

— Team to score first (Panthers minus-170; Broncos plus-140)

— Team to score last (Panthers minus-130; Broncos plus-100)

— The longest touchdown scored: 49½ yards (Over plus-120; Under minus-150)

— Will the game go into overtime? (No minus-1,100; Yes plus-600)

— Will there be a successful 2-point conversion? (Yes plus-350; No minus-500)

— Will there be at least one scoreless quarter? (Yes plus-200; No minus-280)

In this era of the DVR, it’s not uncommon to intentionally not watch a show while it’s live so that you can fast-forward through the commercials.

The Super Bowl is probably the only time when people can’t wait for commercials — some people only “watch” the game for them.

According to Forbes, in 2014 a 30-second commercial cost an outrageous $4 million and double that for a 1-minute commercial — and that doesn’t include the cost to make the commercial.

Last year the Super Bowl was the most watched event in America with more than 108 million viewers, but the really fascinating thing is why people watched. Several studies have proven that 50% of the Super Bowl audience tunes in just to watch the ads.

In 2016, a thirty-second spot during Super Bowl 50 (L) is selling for an average of $5 million, which is up about $500,000 from 2015. The Super Bowl will be broadcast on CBS from Levi’s® Stadium – (Home of the San Francisco 49ers) located in Santa Clara, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area on Feb. 7, 2016. The halftime entertainment includes Coldplay, with both Rihanna and Beyoncé taking part.

Neilsen Ratings 2015: According to results from The Nielsen Company, the broadcast of Super Bowl XLIX on NBC had an average audience of 114.4 million viewers, which surpassed the previous year’s Super Bowl, and became the most watched television program of all time. The game peaked at 120.8 million viewers during its final minutes. Katy Perry’s performance was also the most watched halftime show in the 49 year history of the event.

Commercials are often considered interruptions to the entertainment we love. But Super Bowl ads are different—instead of being intruders, they are like the “must have” guests that keep a party rockin’.

Some might make you laugh, others might make you tear up — you don’t have to like them but you’re probably going to watch them.

Even if your favorite team is not playing during the biggest night in football, fans can always look forward to the awesome commercials that play during the Super Bowl. And in our social media-driven age, some companies have begun to debut online trailers to build anticipation for their content during the game.

‘Mean Joe’ Greene Reunited With The Kid From His Famous Super Bowl Commercial, And It Was Heartwarming

from uproxx

best one is probably the Coca-Cola commercial featuring ex-Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman “Mean Joe” Greene and a young fan whose real name is Tommy Okon. If you haven’t seen it in a while, stop what you’re doing and watch it, because it never fails to warm your heart.

CBS has decided to do a special on the best ads in the history of football’s biggest game with the special Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials 2016. There’s no word as to what will happen, outside of this preview which reunites Greene with Okon. Despite not seeing each other in years, the duo immediately knew they were meeting up with one another. They also discussed why they believe this ad is so beloved by everyone.

Greene no longer looks like a hard-nosed football player, while Okon is now in his 40s, but it’s still heartwarming to see the pair from one of the best commercials of all-time reunite.
