For 10 years, we have been playing this game called fantasy baseball in leagues hosted on Yahoo! With three unique types.  The leagues use a LIVE re-draft league. (the dates/times are below). They are all FREE to play and the champion will be rewarded. Below are helpful links for you to use to learn more and sign up and followed by great recipes for you this Saint Patrick’s Day.

 

 

- 161st &River Ave - 

The longest running league and celebrating it’s 10th Anniversary, This league is the original type of fantasy baseball with 1 twist. It is a 6×6 Rotisserie (ROTO). Our league is made up of 12 teams with 12 stat categories. 6 for hitters and 6 for pitchers. Each team gets points for each category ranging from 12 (best) to 1 (worst).

 

- Weekly H2H -

Another league that is available is a Head to Head (H2H) format with weekly roster changes. In this league, two teams match up with one another weekly with the rosters locked in.  There are (3) divisions of four teams with the top two in each division making the playoffs. With 18 statistical categories used for the scoring, many matchups come down to Sunday night baseball.

 

- Home Run Derby -

The third type of league that is available is a simple HR Derby that is played over the course of the entire season. This league is celebrating its 7th anniversary of tracking only home runs and strikeouts.  The rules are simple.  Pick 5 players and start 3 per week.  For every HR your roster gets 10 points and for every strikeout your team loses .5 points.  The team with the most points at the end of the season wins.  It is very simple to play and it seems like every year it comes down to the wire.

Guinness® Pub Burgers

 

INGREDIENTS:

1 1/4 lbs ground beef

1 dash pepper

1/2 teaspoonTabascosauce

1 clove garlic, crushed

1/4 cup chili sauce

1/2 ounce package Knorr french onion soup mix

1/2 cup Guinness stout

4 hamburger buns

 

PREPARATION:

Preheat oven to 400 F degrees.

Combine meat, pepper,Tabasco sauce, garlic, chili sauce, dry onion soup mix, and 1½ ozs Guinness.

Shape into 4 patties.

Bake at 400F until brown, about 10 minutes.

Baste with the remaining Guinness.

Continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, until well done.

Add your favorite burger garnishes and trimmings.

 

Guinness® Onions

 

INGREDIENTS:

2 large or 4 small sweet onions

12 oz Guinness Stout

1/4 cup brown Sugar

 

PREPARATION:

Slice onions and combine with Guinness and brown sugar and reduce over medium heat and finally low heat until only about 1/4 cup of glaze remains

 

Guinness® Beer Cheese

 

INGREDIENTS:

32 ounces Velveeta®,  cut into 1/2-inch cubes

1 cup Guinness

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

 

PREPARATION:

Heat cheese in slow cooker on High until melted, about 20 minutes.

Stir beer, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and cayenne pepper into cheese until smooth and heated through, stirring frequently, about 10 minutes.

 

 

Shamrock Shakes

 

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups vanilla ice cream

3/4 cup 2% low-fat milk

1/4 teaspoon mint extract or 1 1/2 oz Creme De Menthe

8 drops green food coloring  – optional

 

PREPARATION:

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend on high speed until smooth.

Stop blender to stir with a spoon if necessary to help blend ice cream.

Pour into 12-ounce cups and serve each with a straw.
