Week 3 was a mixed bag for the FANFOOD 2 for 2. Out of 4 starts, just half of them were quality.

Here are the results followed by a great recipe, this time it’s John’s Blue Burgers.

Week 3

FANFOOD goes 2 for 4

Season: .750  (9 for 12)

1. Chris Archer

Rays pitcher Chris Archer struggled in his first start Monday, giving up seven earned runs on 12 hits and one walk in five innings while striking out six in his team’s 7-1 loss to the Orioles. Archer gave up one run in the first inning, three in the second and two in the third before finally working a scoreless inning in the fourth. After the Orioles got another off him in the fifth, he wasn’t brought back out for the sixth inning, with his pitch count already at 95.  He bounced back with a quality start and the win in his second start of the week Saturday night against the Yankees. The right-hander received more than enough run support, allowing one run on three hits and no walks while striking out four over 6 2/3 innings pitched. Archer owns a 3.65 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP along with 21:5 K:BB ratio over 24 2/3 innings pitched. He will make his next start Friday against the White Sox in Chicago.

2. Yordano Ventura

Yordano ran up his pitch count and lasted only four innings on Sunday, suffering his first loss of the season in his team’s 8-3 defeat to Minnesota. Ventura surrendered a two-run double to Trevor Plouffe and run-scoring singles to Eduardo Escobar and Chris Colabello. He was charged with four runs on six hits and four walks while striking out six over four innings pitched. He tossed 94 pitched, 56 of which were called strikes. But like Archer, it was a tail of two starts for the rookie, because in his first start of the week, Ventura picked up first win of the season Tuesday against the Astros, he also picked up his first one of his career in a 4-2 final. Yordano allowed just a solo home run in seven innings of work, coming off the bat of Carlos Corporan in the fifth inning. He also had an unearned run come around to score in the first inning, but never trailed. Ventura struck out seven batters and walked three, while allowing just four hits in seven innings of work. It’s a good news bad news type of thing with the bad news being that after his second start in week 3, Ventura saw his ERA rise from 0.69 to 2.65 after Sunday’s loss. The good news is that for the season he’s posted a 1.12 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB ratio over 17 innings pitched.
