FANFOOD 2 for 2 RESULTS week 23

Week 23 was a mixed bag for the FANFOOD 2 for 2.  One of our picks was shut down after making only one start and the other pick was both good and bad. Out of 3 starts, just 1 was worthy.

Here are the results followed by a great recipe, this time it’s Grilled Bourbon Tuna Steaks.

Week 23

FANFOOD goes 1 for 3

Season: .659 (56 for 85)

1. Hector Santiago

It was a tale of two starts for Jekyll and Hyde Hector, as he failed to record an out in the third inning of Sunday’s 6-1 loss to Houston. Santiago (5-8) was yanked after allowing three runs on five hits and five walks in two-plus innings, though he did strike out four. It was Santiago’s first loss in 13 starts and three relief appearances since June 15. In his other start of the week, Hector earned a win Tuesday, allowing one earned run on five hits and one walk in five innings while striking out two in his team’s 9-3 victory over the Rangers. Santiago cruised through most of the outing but surrendered a solo home run in the fourth inning.

2. Michael Wacha

Michael Wacha was scratched from his Saturday start against Colorado in week 23 and hasn’t pitched since. Marco Gonzales pitched instead. He was coming off a poor outing against Cincinnati in which he surrendered five earned runs in four innings. He has made just two starts since returning from a shoulder injury that sidelined him for nearly three months. So this left this pick with only one start that allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits and three walks in four-plus innings while striking out three in his team’s 9-5 defeat against the Reds. Wacha surrendered a two-run home run in the first inning and an RBI double to the opposing pitcher in the fourth. He then put the first three guys of the fifth on base, with one reaching on an error, before exiting the game. Wacha owns a 3.14 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 89:30 K:BB ratio in 97 1/3 innings.
